VW Passat Sedan (2005-2010)

The VW Passat B6 ( Typ 3C ) was manufactured from March 2005 to July 2010, both at the Emden plant as well as the Volkswagen plant in Zwickau as the successor of the model B5. Another manufacturer FAW -Volkswagen, which then manufactured the model from November 2007 in his major work, Changchun under the name VW Magotan in the sedan version and from June 2010 as a VW Variant in the combination design. The Chinese production was discontinued in June 2011 in order to enable the production of the newly developed Passat NMS.

VW Passat Variant (2005-2010)

The VW Passat is like the VW Golf V ( PQ35 platform ) in many components. To use a large proportion of identical parts, the 3C was converted back to a transversely mounted engine. Compared to its predecessor, it grew in all dimensions. The vertically aligned with the predecessor rear lights now run horizontally and pull in the trunk lid. Striking is the fully chromed grille, which extends into the bumper. The profile of the 3C is characterized by a bead and the relatively long overhangs. As innovations a semi-automatic electric parking brake are standard and a starter button ( "keyless start" ) (optional) installed. The Passat is the first car that can be factory-fitted with an SAP world phone ( hands-free "premium", from 10/ 2005). However, this can only be used by mobile phones that support the rSAP profile. The Passat is available in seven trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Sportline, Highline, Bluemotion, R36 and Individual. Since the Passat B6 again received a transversely installed drive unit, the W8 or V6 engines from the Audi A4/A6 and the previous model is no longer in this model were offered.

Based on the Passat B6 ( chassis, platform and engines), but with the wheelbase of the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet also the middle class is offered, the VW sells under the name Eos.

2006 were registered in Germany 124 611 Passat. In summer 2007, the new Passat BlueMotion has been introduced. This since 11/2008 has the 2.0 -liter TDI engine with 81 kW (110 hp) and has a lower fuel consumption than the previously built 1.9 TDI. The divergence of the conventional models is achieved through low-resistance tires, in the higher gears longer translated gearbox and an air- resistance-optimized underbody. Thus, the consumption is reduced by about 0.5 liters per 100 km. This is already the second BlueMotion variant of the Polo BlueMotion, which came on the market in the summer of 2006 and was a huge success. VW hoped to surpass this success with the Passat BlueMotion yet. The surcharge for 1.9 TDI was about 1000 euros. The 2.0 TDI BlueMotion has been discontinued shortly before the end of production. It could be bought temporarily no real BlueMotion more. Shortly thereafter, the new 1.6 TDI 105 PS BlueMotion was introduced (4.4 l/100 km fuel consumption ), which was ordered as a real BlueMotion again. It is based on the Trendline equipment, but also received the R -line spoiler outside. Were the same time the 2.0 TDI 140PS BlueMotion Technology available (combined 4,8 l/100 km fuel consumption ), as well as the 1.6 TDI 105 PS BlueMotion Technology ( 4.5 l/100 km fuel consumption ). This BlueMotion Technology models could be, unlike the BlueMotion models ( except for the period when it the 2.0 TDI with 110 PS and BlueMotion, the so-called BlueMotion II) gave, combined with all equipment lines except Individual and R-Line. The BlueMotion Technology models ( BMT) did not receive a standard R -line spoiler.

Beginning of 2008, started as a top model of the Passat R36 (3.6 l capacity ) with 220 kW ( 300 hp) as a sedan and Variant. Evident is the top model of all-round modified Aprons, tinted tail lights, as well as more chrome than the standard model.

VW Passat R36 Variant ( 2008-2010)

In February 2008, the previously used 2.0-liter diesel engines were treated with 103 kW/125 kW (140 /170 PS ) and pump-nozzle injection gradually replaced by equally strong engines with common - rail injection. The new engines are quiet and smooth. In addition, the consumption drops by the manufacturer for models with direct shift by 0.7 liters to 5.8 liters for the sedan and 5.9 liters for the Variant. These engines are also provided for the upcoming A3 and the Golf VI. In the new generation of the Audi A4 and the VW Tiguan, this engine is already offered.

Mid-2009 was followed by the introduction of a BlueMotion version of the 1.4-liter TSI engine which simultaneously now meets the emission standard Euro 5.

In China, FAW Volkswagen offers a slightly modified version of the B6 under the name Magotan. Under the name " Passat" runs there instead an optically adapted Škoda Superb I.

Equipment variants
