Models

Over time, various alternatives were offered by Polo V, which differ from the normal production version by a different standard equipment; partly they have a modified body or not available for the normal model engine.

CrossPolo

The CrossPolo was officially launched in March 2010 at the International Motor Show in Geneva. The available exclusively with five doors vehicle differs from the normal version of the Polo by the off-road look with independent front and rear aprons, plastic covers on fenders, side skirts and doors, silver anodized roof rails, standard fog lamps and 17- inch alloy wheels. The exterior mirror housings are painted regardless of the color of the vehicle always silver. The standard equipment includes sports seats for driver and front passenger, leather steering wheel and central locking with radio remote control. As engines gasoline engines 51-77 kW and diesel engines 55-77 kW are available. The CrossPolo has a chassis with 15 millimeters more ground clearance, due to the lack of all-wheel drive but only limited for use on rough terrain suitable. The pre-sale of the CrossPolo produced at the Volkswagen plant in Uitenhage, South Africa began in early March 2010. The first vehicles were delivered in the summer of 2010.

Polo BlueMotion

In addition to the five-door production version of the Polo V, the concept vehicle Polo BlueMotion concept was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009. The near-series vehicle is powered by a newly developed 3- cylinder common - rail diesel engine with 1.2 liter displacement and 55 kW (75 hp) power. The consumption is, according to Volkswagen at 3.3 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 87 grams per kilometer. In addition to what is already undertaken in the BlueMotion version of the Polo IV changes compared to the normal production model, the BlueMotion version of the Polo V also has a start-stop system, the possibility of braking energy recovery and a multi -function display with gear recommendation for choosing the most fuel-efficient gear.

The production version of the Polo BlueMotion V was introduced at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 2009 and is available for purchase since 14 December 2009. The vehicle is available in two versions, both of which are motorized identical. The first variant (Polo BlueMotion 87g ) according to the manufacturer consumes 3.3 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers and is only available with a limited selection of specialty equipment. The second variant (Polo BlueMotion 89g ) is to consume an average of 3.4 liters of fuel, but is available with more extensive special equipment.

Reason for this step is the classification of vehicles into so-called inertia classes against which the predetermined braking effect of the dynamometer is determined at the meting. This classification is not based on the empty weight of the vehicles, but based on the empty weight plus any available optional equipment. By limiting the available equipment, the Polo BlueMotion 87g is classified in a lower inertia class, which allows for the measurement of lower fuel consumption.

Polo GTI

The Polo GTI was presented together with the CrossPolo early March 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show and can be ordered since the end of May 2010. It is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine with turbo - and supercharged, the maximum output of 132 kW ( 180 hp ) is transmitted through a standard 7- speed dual- clutch transmission to the front wheels. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle in 6.9 seconds is from 0 to 100 km / h speed and reach a top speed of 229 km / h. At the same time should have been compared with the performance identical in terms of motorized previous model Polo GTI Cup Edition reduced by 25 percent and are 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers through the modern technology of consumption. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 139 grams per kilometer.

Outside, the Polo GTI is distinguished by its own designed front and rear aprons, widened side skirts, roof spoiler, standard fog lights, red -painted brake calipers, 17 - inch alloy wheels and a chrome exhaust - twin tailpipes of the normal production version of the Polo. Furthermore, it features a sports suspension with a 15 mm lowering and extended electronic differential lock, which is to reduce cornering at speed by braking the inside front wheel, the tilt of the vehicle to understeer. In addition, the vehicle's battery was moved to optimize the weight distribution from the engine compartment in the spare wheel well, thus the usable luggage compartment volume of 280 reduced to 204 liters.

Polo CityVan

This van has three doors and two seats. It is available in four versions:

Polo Sedan / Vento

The notchback variant Polo Sedan was launched on June 2, 2010 in Moscow. The vehicle has an extended wheelbase by 82 millimeters and is designed specifically for the needs of the Russian market. In India, the model with better basic equipment under the name "Volkswagen Vento " is offered, but you can not call him as a successor to the namesake. The vehicles will be produced at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan, India. As a petrol engines and one diesel engine, each with 1.6 liter displacement and 77 kW (105 hp) available. The vehicle is largely identical to the Škoda Rapid.

Motors

At launch, three petrol engines with 44-63 kW ( 60-85 hp) and three diesel engines with 55-77 kW ( 75-105 hp) were available. The petrol engines were adopted from its predecessor, but technically revised to meet the stringent Euro 5 emissions standards and in the case of the 63 -kW unit to increase the performance. The 1.6 -liter diesel engines with common - rail injection, which are fitted as standard with a particulate filter, is completely new developments. In November 2009, a likewise completely newly developed 1.2-liter TSI petrol engine with 77 kW (105 hp) was introduced performance. Since December 2009, this engine with direct injection and turbocharging also available in combination with the 7- speed dual- clutch transmission.

As of March 2010, the Polo with 63 kW petrol engine was also available as a bi-fuel version that can be fueled with gasoline and LPG. The vehicle is equipped for this purpose in addition to the normal fuel tank with 45 liters over a 52 -liter LPG tank in the spare wheel well. The adapted to the higher thermal loads engine complies with the Euro 4 emissions standard and makes gas in the car - operating 60 kW (82 hp). End of June 2010 the sales of this model, however, was set for reasons of capacity until further notice. Since February 2011, a bi-fuel model being offered again. This has a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, 60 kW ( 82 hp ) has power in the gas and petrol operation and with the emission standard Euro 5.

Since May 2010, the originally used only in the Polo BlueMotion 1.2-liter diesel engine with 55 kW (75 hp) for the normal version of the Polo available and it replaces the 1.6 - liter engine with 55 kW. The 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 51 kW (70 PS) since November 2010 also available with BlueMotion Technology package.
