Volvo FM

Volvo FM is a produced since 1998 truck series from Volvo. It replaced the Volvo FL trucks 7,10,12 Settled is the FM series as middle series between the Volvo FL and Volvo FH. As a regional transport and construction trucks in the FM is the most georderte variant, but it is also available as a long-haul truck.

First Generation 1998-2001

The engines and chassis were derived from the first generation Volvo FH. The cabin, however, the Volvo FL. The interior, including dashboard turn was almost equal to the Volvo FH and Volvo NH. The series as FM7, FM10 and FM12 were available with manual transmissions or automatic transmissions and split the drive configurations 4x2, 6x4, 8x2 and 8x4 and a 6x6 construction and heavy transport variant.

2nd Generation 2001-2013

The second generation in 2001 eingeführts parallel to the revised Volvo FH series. Besides the new design replaced the 7 - and 10 -liter engines, the new 9-liter engine D9A. Also new was the automatic Volvo I-Shift. The Volvo safety system FUPS Front Underrun Protection System, increased passive safety. Facelift in 2005

2005, the FM was again revised in parallel to the FH. Externally, little change, the new 13-liter D13A and the revised 9-liter D9B replaced the previous engines in Kombinantion with a revised version of the I- shift gearbox. The engines now meet the pollutant emission class Euro 4. The D13A was delivered with SCR exhaust technology. The engine brake VEB Volvo has also been improved and was now also linked to the cruise control function.

Facelift in 2007

In 2007, the Volvo FM the D13B with VGT turbochargers. A diesel particulate filter is offered differently than the competition only as an option. Unlike the FH 500 PS version of this engine when FM is not available and 440 hp now the largest performance variant. The D11B engine replaced the strongest variant of D9B and was introduced as a 430 hp variant. Among other minor changes, the safety systems ESP, lane departure warning and collision warning have been introduced.
