Vratko Nemanjić

Jug Nemanjić was a Serbian nobleman and military leader of Emperor Dušan.

He came from the ruling dynasty of Nemanjic of Vukan, the eldest son of Stefan Nemanja, the founder of the dynasty. The year and place of his birth and his death are not historically handed down, just not his wife's name. Known are two children he had, Milica and Nikola; the latter died historical tradition according to 1379, but of which assumes a theory that there might be evidence of the legendary Miloš Obilić at Nikola.

Jug was a member of the Serbian nobility of the time. As commander of Emperor Dušan he took Jovan Oliver in the negotiations with his King John VI. in part. Together with Oliver, he led the Serbian army on the side of John VI. against Serres.

Further details are not known about jug. To 1353 he married his daughter Milica with the later Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović. His grave lay was in the patronage of the church and his family foundation, the monastery Davidovica in Prijepolje. In Serbian epic poetry, however jug is known as the old Jug Bogdan, one of the protagonists in the so-called Kosovo cycles.
