Vyacheslav Zudov

Vyacheslav Dmitrievich Sudow (Russian Вячеслав Дмитриевич Зудов, scientific transliteration Vjačeslav Dmitrievič Zudov; born January 8, 1942 in Bor, Gorky Oblast, Russian SFSR ) is a pilot and former Soviet cosmonaut.

After Vyacheslav Sudow 1963, the Higher Military Aviator Pilot School graduated in Balashov, he was selected by the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre on 23 October 1965 as a cosmonaut. The pilot and parachutist graduated from basic training for cosmonauts OKP November 1965 to December 1967.

Sudow flew in 1976 as commander of Soyuz 23 in space. There he approached the space station Salyut 5, but without performing a coupling. He was scheduled for another flight, with the maneuver of Soyuz 4 and Soyuz 5 should be repeated. This flight was canceled.

Sudow should sixth and final core team (EO -6) to the station Salyut fly in March 1981 as commander, together with Boris Andreyev with Soyuz T- 4 6. Due to the state of the space station to him, however, the more experienced cosmonaut Vladimir Kovalyonok was preferred as a commander, so that Sudow and Andreyev were only the reserve crew.

In 1979, Vyacheslav Sudow graduate of the Air Force, " J. A. Gagarin ". After he retired from the cosmonaut corps on 14 May 1987, Sudow was first in the commercial research works, later the customs administration, where he remained in retirement until his transfer. For his achievements Sudow was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union in 1976. He is married and has two children.
