Wade Fox

Rufus Wade Fox, Jr. ( * 1920 in Hilton, Virginia; † September 20, 1964 ) was an American zoologist and herpetologist. He specialized in the anatomy of snakes and the systematics of the western garter snakes.

Fox graduated from 1946-1950 doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley with Robert C. Stebbins, from which he graduated with a thesis Biology of the Garter Snakes of the San Francisco Bay region. In addition, he was from 1943 to 1949 assistant to the curator of herpetology at the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology of the University.

He was co-editor of the journal Copeia and 1964 President of the Herpetologists ' League.
