Wadi-us-Salaam

Wadi -us- Salaam ( ar. وادي السلام " Valley of Peace ") is an unused since the seventh century cemetery in the metropolitan area of ​​the holy city of Najaf in Iraq, which is often referred to as the largest in the world.

Near the fourth caliph and first Shia Imam ʿ Alī ibn Abī Taalib is laid to rest. On 917 acres (for comparison has the largest European resting place, the cemetery Ohlsdorf, an area of ​​391 hectares) are five million people buried each year half a million to do so.
