WAFF Championship
The West Asian Championship ( West Asian Football Federation Championship English ) is a football competition of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF West Asian Football Federation) which is actually held in every two years since 2000. 2006 should the tournament be held in Lebanon, but was canceled because of the war in Lebanon.
Regular participants are the six WAFF member associations Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. The West Asian Championships and other associations from the region but are sometimes invited. So took even Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan participated in the tournament, when - later canceled - 2006 tournament should Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to play. First time in 2008 was attended by teams from Qatar and Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait in 2010 will attend.
Not to be confused are the West Asian Championships with the football tournament that will take place as part of the West Asian Games (West Asian Games ), just as with the Gulf Cup, although this is also a tournament west Asian Nations (namely the Arab countries bordering the Persian Gulf ).
