Wala of Corbie

Wala (* probably 773; † August 31 836 in Bobbio ) was a son of the Carolingian Bernhard, an illegitimate son of Charles Martel, and a Saxon.

He was married to Rothlindis, a subsidiary of St. William of Gellone, Count of Toulouse, Margrave of Septimania. He became Count of Saxony and 811 Count Palatine, but was 814, after the death of his wife, all secular offices and stepped into the church service. 824 he is said to have written together with Emperor Lothar I the Constitutio Romana.

From 826-831 he was abbot of Corbie and Corvey, from 834 Abbot of Bobbio, in the monastery church he was buried.
