Geography

Walbeck is on the edge of the Mansfeld mining country in Ostharzgebiet about 2 km northwest of Hettstedt to the small creek Walbke.

History

950 the village was first mentioned. On February 5, 985 gave King Otto III. his court in Walbeck in Gau Suevon the Abbess Matilda of Quedlinburg.

Regular events

The robbers festival is organized by the Association robber club, and takes place on the second weekend in August. It is based on an old tradition and is known beyond the borders of the village beyond. Background of the festival is a spectacle of clad members of the Raiders organization. Prince and princess pull on Saturday and his entourage to the zoo and have a party. In the evening, robbers attacked the feast, overwhelm the followers of the Prince pair and kidnap the princess and the municipality key.
