Waldemar SÅ‚omiany

Waldemar Slomiany ( born November 1, 1943 in Ruda Śląska ) is a former German football player of Polish descent.

Slomiany, who began his athletic career at Gornik Zabrze and later moved to Germany, played 1967-1972 for the FC Schalke 04 and Arminia Bielefeld total of 98 times in the Bundesliga, scoring 11 goals. Slomiany became famous especially through participation in the Bundesliga scandal of 1971.

Slomiany, only changed for 1970/71 season from Schalke to Bielefeld, had contact with Schalke's players prepared to measure the outcome of the game Schalke - define Bielefeld on April 17, 1971 in advance. Overall, he gave 40,000 marks from Arminia Bielefeld to Schalke players who should make this a victory of Arminia. In fact, the game then ended with a 1-0 victory of Bielefeld.
