Wall Street Institute

Wall Street English, a former Wall Street Institute is a language school that focuses exclusively on teaching the English language and is represented by nearly 450 language centers in 27 countries worldwide. The focus is in Europe, Asia and Latin America. It offered courses for beginners, advanced, as well as companies in the field of Business English by the proprietary Wall Street English multimethod. CEO of Wall Street Institute International Inc. is David Kedwards; Headquarters of the International Center is Baltimore, USA. Chief Operating Officer Jim McGowan. As General Manager, Germany Achim Gniffke is responsible for Germany. In 1997, acquired the Wall Street English from Sylvan Learning Systems, and adopted by the holding company of The Carlyle Group in 2005. Since 2010, Wall Street English is part of the Pearson publishing group.

Wall Street English operates 450 language centers in 27 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Ecuador, Germany, France, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela and Vietnam.

In Germany, there are currently 26 language schools in Berlin, Bonn, Bremen, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Essen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Karlsruhe, Cologne, Leipzig, Mannheim, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Wiesbaden.

History

In 1972, Luigi Tiziano Peccenini opened the first language center in Italy. After a rapid expansion in Italy - 48 new stores within 5 years - opened the Wall Street Institute from 1983 only in Europe, then worldwide new sites. On May 15, 2013, the Wall Street Institute underwent a rebranding and changed the name to Wall Street English. The new name is intended to create a uniform global presence, while at the same time emphasize that the school specializes in teaching the English language. The new logo shows a square balloon into which opens a door. This is to illustrate that the learning of English language opens up new opportunities.

Methodology

Wall Street English uses a specially developed method, the WSI Multimethod ®. It includes the following elements:

  • Listen, Repeat, skills, develop, speaking consolidate: Students learn basic language knowledge and skills and get to know the language.
  • Letter: The next step is improved understanding of the text and strengthened the writing skills.
  • Encounters: The learned knowledge is applied in small groups up to 5 people. The courses are accompanied by native speaking tutors.
  • Class Communication: In a group of students on the same level of learning different subjects in English are discussed.
  • Social Activities Club: books, movies and magazines are designed to teach students the English culture. Together with the learning group activities are completed.

Since May 2013 Wall Street English offers two further series of courses: Individual and group courses of Market Leader program for companies as well as topic -specific courses (eg, travel, career).

All courses are completed with an internationally recognized English certificate. The curricula correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Langugages (CEFR ) and the Cambridge Examinations for Speakers of Other Languages ​​( ESOL ). The Business Language Testing Service, short BULATS is a test that was developed in cooperation of Cambridge ESOL, the Goethe Institute, the University of Salamanca and the Alliance Française for the languages ​​English, German, French and Spanish. This tests the vocational language skills. After completing a course level, each student can complete the BULATS test and acquire an internationally recognized BULATS certificate.
