Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (W & W), Wallenius Wilhelmsen short is a Scandinavian shipping company that deals mainly with the global transport of motor vehicles, trucks and other rolling cargo.

History

The shipping company was founded in 1999 as Wallenius Wilhelmsen shipping company Wallenius Lines of the Swedish and the Norwegian shipping company Wilh. Wilhelmsen as a joint company for the operating business. CEO of the company since August 2013 Chris Connor.

On 14 December 2002, the Tricolor, a 190 m long Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Car transporter sank after a collision with the container ship Kariba in 2871 with new cars on board in the English Channel. The ship was a total loss and could later be recovered only in part.

In 2005, W & W took over half of the company's shares on the U.S. logistics company DAS. The following year, they changed the orientation of the shipping company towards a full-service provider in the automotive logistics and changed to reflect the expansion of the range statement, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics on the name.

Particulars

The company is considered a leader of truck transport by sea and currently operates (as of April 2011), a fleet of 60 ships. The ships managed are chartered and primarily include the two part -to-do shipping companies. Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics transports per year, 4.3 million cars, 2.3 million of the lake and about two million by land. Additionally, around three million other rolling cargo units are handled.

With 3500 employees worldwide generated W & W an annual turnover of 2.3 billion U.S. dollars.
