Walter Gómez

Walter Gómez ( born December 12, 1927 in Montevideo, † March 4, 2004 in Vicente López, Argentina ) was a Uruguayan football player.

Club career

Gómez began his career at Central. From there he moved in 1946 to Nacional Montevideo, where he won the Uruguayan championship each with his teammates in 1946 and 1947. In 1950 he made his way into neighboring Argentina, where he joined River Plate. Three times, in the years 1952, 1953 and 1955, he was champion again with his team. He then moved to Italy in 1956 for three years to Sicilian club Palermo. But in 1959 he returned to his home country to continue to Colombia and eventually to pull Venezuela after a brief re stint with Nacional. There, at his last station as part of his footballing career as a player of Deportivo Galicia with the Venezuelan Championship in 1964 he succeeded another title.

National

The striker was also a member of the Uruguayan national football team, with whom he participated in the 1946 Copa América and for which he total 1945-1946 four matches ( no goals ) completed.
