Walter J. Turner

Walter James Redfern Turner ( born October 13, 1889 in Melbourne, † November 18, 1946 ) was born in Australia and went to school there; but he moved to the UK to work as a writer.

Life and work

Turner was a friend of many poets, he was one of Siegfried Sassoon and Virginia Woolf to his friends. Edward Marsh took his poems in the collection of Georgian Poetry 1916-17 (1917 ) and Georgian Poetry 1918-19 (1919). From the First World War to the 30s into Turner was known primarily as a poet. He also wrote biographies of composers, among others, Mozart, Beethoven and Berlioz.
