Walter Vinson

Walter Vinson ( born February 2, 1901 in Bolton, Mississippi, † April 22, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois; Vincson also called Walter or Walter Vincent ) was an American blues guitarist and singer, best known by the Mississippi Sheiks been.

As a child, Vinson was a musician and played at parties and Tanszveranstaltungen. Mostly, he was part of a duo or trio, together with Charlie McCoy, Rubin Lacy and Son Spand.

Vinson's fertile time was his long-standing collaboration with Lonnie Chatmon, with whom he formed the Mississippi Sheiks in the late 1920s. In addition he made to the Mississippi Hot Footers recordings and performed with Chatmons brothers Bo and Harry.

After the dissolution of the Mississippi Sheiks in 1933 Vinson played with different partners, and eventually ended up in Chicago. The mid-1940s he retired from the music until it was rediscovered in the 1960s.

Walter Vinson died in 1975 in Chicago.
