Walton, Milton Keynes#Caldecotte

Caldecotte is a district in the parish of Walton, Milton Keynes, ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire, which includes the site of an ancient village of the same name. In addition, to compensate for the water runoff on the River Ouzel important Caldecotte Lake is for the most part in this District. The lake is used by a number of sports clubs for rowing and other water sports activities.

The name Caldecotte is fairly common in England and comes from Old English, meaning " cold cottage " meaning a resting place for travelers and other foreigners was meant on the road. The original road from Northampton to London led by near, only a short distance from its junction with Watling Street, which was an important transport connection even since Roman times. The settlement went down after 1728 the road was moved from Northampton to London, so it was passed over Broughton and Woburn to the junction with Watling Street, Hockliffe.

It should not be confused with the hamlet of Caldecote Caldecotte quite near Newport Pagnell.
