The Wanneroo Road is a main route through the northern suburbs of Perth in the south west of the Australian state of Western Australia. It connects the northern district of Perth, Yokine Joondana and, with the Lancelin Road in Woodridge.

Course

The road begins about 4 km north of the center of Perth, where the Charles Street ( S60) and Walcott meet Street / Green Street ( S75). By Tuart Hill, Noll Amera, Westminster, Hamersley, Marangaroo, Wangara and Pearsall take her to north-northwest to the suburb of Wanneroo, after whom it is named. Along the coast, with which it is repeatedly connected by short spur roads, the Wanneroo Road runs through the Yanchep National Park to Woodridge.

There she goes over to the Lancelin Road ( S60), leading to the same place. There she will meet the Indian Ocean Drive ( S60), the south of Dongara on the Brand Highway (R1).

Short pieces of state highways 81 and 83 also extend to the Wanneroo Road.

History

After the entry into force of the Road Districts Act in 1871, the Perth Road Board requested that the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia should identify eight traffic routes through their territory, and was on 4 June 1872 as Route No.. 3 is a route from Perth to Champion Bay ( Geraldton today ) published on Wanneroo in the information sheet of the government. However, it was found that the construction of the road was not keeping up with announcements. Only gradually a way on this route was paved.

Originally created only a narrow, two-lane country road, piece by piece was widened, particularly north of Wanneroo. In Carabooda the road has also been realigned over time. The remaining short pieces of the old, narrow street and now serve as access roads to residential and business land along the road.
