Wartime Broadcasting Service

The rod Federal Department of Press and Radio ( rod BR APF; French Etat -major du Conseil fédéral Division Press et Radio, EM CF Dipra; Italian Stato maggiore del Consiglio federale Divisione Stampa e Radio, SM CF DISTRA ) was an instrument of the Swiss government to information to the public in extraordinary circumstances.

History

The APF was established in 1939. At the request of the commander of the Swiss Army, General Henri Guisan, sent by February 1, 1942 report to the Department of Justice and Police, so that the army was not involved in the APF also exercised censorship activities.

After the late 1980s, the section censorship was abolished, the APF moved in 2000 to the Defense Department, but was still not under the command of the army.

The APF, also known under the designation of Army Staff group 500, and the associated information since 1997 Regiment 1, was dissolved on 31 December 2004.
