Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C

The Wärtsilä RT- flex96C is a two-stroke diesel engine of the Finnish manufacturer Wärtsilä. In its execution 14RT - flex96C with 14 cylinders he is one of the most powerful yet mass-produced piston engines. The motor is used as the main drive of the container ships of the Emma Mærsk - class, in which he achieved with four ABB turbochargers an output of 80.080 kW ( 107 389 PS). He also serves as the one-time (2012 ) the largest container ship in the world, the CMA CGM Marco Polo, as the main drive. He is, as usual, ship engines, designed with a leverage ratio of 2,60:1 very long stroke.

The RT- flex96C together with the K108 L2 MAN Diesel currently one of the internal combustion engines with the highest energy efficiency. It converts about 50 % of the fuel supplied through the energy into kinetic energy.
