Warwerort

Warwerort is a municipality in the west of the circle Dithmar in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography

Geographical Location

The community is located directly on the North Sea on the north coast of Meldorfer Bay. The county road 54 connects the village to the main road 203 between Büsum and heath.

History

The place was first used in 1521 as werüerorth in a document. Already on the Boeckelschen map from 1559, there still as Werven. He lay in the north of the former island Büsum, the entire southern part of the island but is now submerged in the North Sea, the surrounding Buesumer grown thanks embankments since 1585 to the mainland, so that Werven lay on the south coast in the 18th century. After the actual Werven lost in the Christmas flood 1717 Buesumer moved the lock further north, was built here in 1739, the new Warwerorter harbor.

The small harbor was like the others of the coastline also of crucial importance for the region before the Dithmarschens connection to the modern railway and road network in the late 19th century. But since the reclamation of the Speicherkoogs it lost its access to the North Sea and thus its task.

Policy

Since the local elections of 2013, the voters Community WGW has all nine seats in the municipal council.

Tourism

Warwerort is a tourist resort on the North Sea south-east of Büsum. In contrast to the larger seaside resort on the beach and the associated parking plus toilet are free admission in Warwerort but provide for any monitoring by the DLRG. The municipal area has a 18- hole golf course and a part of Speicherkooges and the so-called Kretjenkoog.
