Wasco is an American city in Kern County in the U.S. state of California. It has about 22,500 inhabitants ( as of 2004). The metropolitan area has a size of 19.7 km ².
History
Initially called Dewey or Deweyville, the city was renamed in 1900 in Wasco. The suggestion to rename came from a settler named William Bonham from the Wasco County in Oregon, who noticed that the name was already taken Deweyville.
