Washington Blade

Washington Blade was an LGBT newspaper in the United States.

History

Washington Blade was founded in 1969 and was the oldest and, according to the newspaper Gay City News in New York City, the largest circulation LGBT newspaper in the United States. The LGBT messages were divided locally, nationally and internationally. She appeared weekly on Fridays with a circulation of 24,500 issues. Based in the capital of the United States was able to use the editor to get access to the Congress and to the administration.

The newspaper belonged since 2001 to the U.S. company Window Media and was available mainly in Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia and Delaware. On 16 November 2009 it was announced that the newspaper has set the appearance of otherwise profitable sheet because of the insolvency of Window Media.

The staff of the Blade brought seamlessly the new sheet DC Agenda on the market. The issuing Verlag, Brown Naff Pitts Omnimedia, Inc., bought in February 2010, the whole interest in the Washington Blade, including 40 years of comprehensive print and online archive.
