WASP-2

WASP -2 is one of the sun about 130 parsecs ( 420 light years) distant star that is orbited by an exoplanet. It lies in the constellation Delphin, is of spectral type K1 V and has the apparent brightness like 12.

The Planet

Due to the large number of newly found, extrasolar planets are awarded newfound companions no longer proper names. Therefore he called the planet, WASP -2 which encircles simply " b", so WASP -2b. WASP -2b has at least 88 % of the mass of Jupiter, has about the same radius as Jupiter and needs for the orbit to its star a little more than two days. Since direct observation of the planet due to the large distance and high brightness difference is impossible to his star with today's technical resources, most sizes are minimum and maximum sizes. Thus, the distance of the planet to its star, which corresponds to about 3 % of the distance, which has the earth from the sun, a resultant from the data and not directly observed quantity.
