The Watamu Marine National Park is located on the coast of Kenya in the Malindi Marine National Reserve, about 120 kilometers north of Mombasa.
Geography
The marine park is located in the southern part of the Malindi Marine National Reserve about two miles off the Kenyan coast to Watamu and Malindi extends to the mouth of Mida Creek.
History
The national park was founded in 1968 and is managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
Flora and Fauna
The Watamu Marine National Park consists of a coral reef with up to 200 different fish species such as doctor and parrot fish, moray eels, white tip reef sharks and sea turtles.
Tourism
The park offers itself as a destination for divers and snorkelers. You can reach the coral reef from a glass bottom boat from the village of Watamu.
