History

WatchGuard Technologies was founded in February 1996 by Christopher Slatt and Steven Moore under the name Seattle Software Labs. In March 1996, the Mazama Software Labs and their manager David Bonn, a developer of firewall solutions on Linux were taken basis. This merger creates the first prototype of the company's firewall appliance firebox was born. It was introduced in September 1996 in Network Computing magazine.
