Water feature
Water fountains are usually artistically configured systems with variable fountains, gargoyles, artificial cascades, various water dispensers and the like. Water games are varied and go to their representation beyond individual wells, so far as they have similarities with well. Water games often possess a profound symbolism.
In previous centuries, such installations that were demanding work on the contemporary state of the art were referred to as fountains. The water games originated in Italy during the Renaissance. Famous fountains were doing in the area around Rome and Florence as well as in Lazio and Veneto. Individual examples are the Villa in Tivoli, (Villa d' Este ), the Villa Aldobrandini, or Pratolino. Water games emerged in the late Renaissance and the Baroque period but often also in the area of today's Austria, Germany, France and Spain. Only a few plants have been preserved, such as the baroque structure in the mountain park William height in Kassel, which takes its starting point at Hercules.
The Mannerist Hellbrunn relate the sound of the bubbling brook into the action in order to achieve a meditative mood. They generate hydropower variety of birds voices and organ pipes operate, enter the melodies that they let balls and crowns dance and move figures in ornamental ponds and caves, often episodes of ancient mythology tell ( " water machine "). So far, only in a few places in the world exist modern large-scale plants of this kind, which were set up as independent tourist attractions. Known water games of this type are shown in Las Vegas in front of the Bellagio hotel and skyscraper in Dubai at the Burj Khalifa. Known in Europe is the Font Magica, Barcelona.
Shishi Odoshi
A Japanese shishi Odoshi is a water feature, which originally served to drive away wild birds or from fields, but is often used in Japanese garden design. Here, a jet of water fills a bamboo tube which is suspended as a balance arm with counterweight. Once the tube is filled with water, lowers the " balance beam ", the stored water runs out of the pipe, the counterweight can fall behind the bamboo cane, whereupon it against a stone, and produces a knocking sound.
Water games with waterfall effect
Since Galileo Galilei already 400 years ago recognized the waterfall effect, it is suitable to install water features in rooms, buildings or public parks. The aim of this installation is the ionization of the surrounding air and the invigorating effect on the people in its immediate vicinity. Indoor Fountain in Etagerenform or water walls, which symbolize a waterfall, are just a few examples.
Large-scale water games, for eg in city centers, usually pursue several goals:
- Artistic design of an area by building material of any kind
- Terms of landscaped watercourses, overflow basins, within the meaning of Kneipp
- Moving technical structures or the interaction of people (children ) for example: water wheel, water spindles, etc. on water surfaces
- Fountains, waterfalls, water stairs ionize the air through the waterfall effect.
Such water features inside a city will also be installed as a natural ionization source to improve the city air at key points. All-round planting is another idea for the design of water features with waterfall effect.
