Waterlow score

The Waterlow scale is a system developed by the British nursing scientist Judy Waterlow in 1985 nursing assessment tool for assessing pressure ulcer risk. The scale represents how the Braden and the Medley scale, a development of the Norton scale Represent includes assessing the skin type, or the optically detectable risk areas, gender, age, body type and the weight relative to the size of the care, specific risk factors, mobility, medication, previous major surgery, appetite, continence and possible neurological deficits. The individual categories are rated differently, the amount of work thus is slightly higher than other pressure ulcer risk scales. The scale is particularly common in the UK and is particularly suitable for the assessment of pressure ulcer risk for patients in the acute hospital.
