Watthana District

Watthana ( Thai: วัฒนา, also: Vadhana ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand.

Geography

Watthana is bounded on the north by the Khlong Saen Saep ( Saen Saep - channel), to the east by Khlong Tan and from Khlong Phra Khanong and the city highway 3 ( Chalong Council Expressway), in the south of Sukhumvit Road ( Sukhumvit Road ) and in west of the city highway 1 ( Chaloem Maha Nakhon Expressway).

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Ratchathewi, Huai Khwang, Suan Luang, Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, Pathum Wan and Sathorn.

History

Watthana was until 1998 part of the Khet Khlong Toei. He was separated in order to offer the inhabitants their own administration can.

The name of the district comes from the Princess Galyani Vadhana, the elder sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Vadhana ( notation according to the Thai romanization system: Watthana ) means " development". This district is one of the most modern Khet Bangkok.

The metro has its Sukhumvit district in Watthana stop. It corresponds to the Asok Skytrain Station and is the central point of transfer from subway and Sukhumvit Line dar.
