WÄ…welnica

Wąwelnica ( German Wamlitz ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the rural community Dobra ( Daber ) in the powiat Policki.

Geographical location

Wąwelnica located in the eastern Pomerania, about 5 km south-east of the village of Dobra ( Daber ), 14 km southwest of the town of Police ( Pölitz ) and 10 km west of Szczecin.

History

The parish village, which was called in earlier times Wameliz, belonged to the St. Mary's Church in Stettin since its founding in 1263 by Pomeranian Duke Barnim I.. Besides the chapter of St. Mary's Church, later Marienstift, but also knights were enfeoffed in Wamlitz, for example, the Muckerwitz. When Bernd Muckerwitz died in 1579, continued its Registrar Duke Ernst Ludwig Henning von Ramin as a fief successor. Around the year 1775 there were in Wamlitz eleven farmers, a Kossäten, a windmill, a blacksmith, a schoolmaster and a total of 25 fireplaces. To 1864 there were in Wamlitz a village hall, a schoolhouse, nine farmers, a Kossäten, 15 Büdner, a windmill, a shoemaker, two blacksmiths, a carpenter, a Leinweber, a general store, two pubs and a total of 36 private residences. The school in which the clerk gave lessons was einklassig and was attended by about 60 children.

In the early 1930s had the boundaries of the municipality Wamlitz a surface area of 5.7 km ², and on the community foundation on which Wamlitz the only place of residence was, were a total of 46 residential buildings. In the year 1925 340 inhabitants were counted in the community Wamlitz, which were distributed to 81 households.

By 1939 the village had heard Wamlitz to Randow in the district of Stettin Pomerania. It was incorporated on October 15, 1939 in the circle Ueckermuende, in which it remained until 1945.

After the end of World War II Wamlitz was placed under Polish administration and renamed Wąwelnica.

Religion

The population before 1945 in Wamlitz was present with a large majority of the evangelical creed. Among the 1925 counted 340 inhabitants there were 335 Protestants and four Catholics.
