WCW Monday Nitro

WCW Monday Nitro was a weekly show of the wrestling promotion World Championship Wrestling. It was broadcast on TNT on 4 September 1995 to March 26, 2001 every Monday night in prime time.

Ratings

Mid-1996, overtook Nitro is the flagship of WWF RAW for the first time and proposed this also a further 84 weeks in the ratings. This changed in April 1998, again, as the WWF " Attitude Era" introduced and dominated the odds again with the feud between Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

First Episode

The first episode of Nitro came from Minneapolis, Minnesota and was recorded at the Mall of America. The highlight of this episode was that shortly before even working with World Wrestling Entertainment Lex Luger a contract with World Championship Wrestling signed and also just occurred in this first episode.

Last Episode

On 26 March 2001, the last nitro edition was held in Panama City Beach, Florida and was titled " The Night of Champions". At the beginning of the episode we saw Vince McMahon on a screen, where he explained that the WWF had won the " Monday Night War" and he will take over WCW. At the end of the episode WWF RAW is War and WCW Monday Nitro were connected together, as the standing in the ring, McMahon was suddenly interrupted by his son Shane McMahon. This plane Shane McMahon, who was in Panama City Beach, his father explained that he bought WCW and not his father. From this it became clear the former "Invasion " storyline.

The last match of WCW Monday Nitro denied the two rival Sting and Ric Flair.

Nitro in Germany

In Germany Nitro was, a few weeks after the broadcast in the U.S., mostly on Saturday in the German Sports Television, Sport 1 broadcast today. Due to the slump in wrestling rate the DSF responsible displaced between 1997 and 1998 almost every wrestling show on the former DSF action channel of DF1. For a short time aired on DSF "Nitro Classics" from 2001, a compilation of past matches Nitro broadcasts.
