We Are Our Mountains

Tatik Papik ( Տատիկ եւ Պապիկ, poor. For " grandmother and grandfather " ) or " We are our mountains " ( armen. Մենք ենք մեր սարերը, Menk ' enk ' mer sarerě ) is a monument in Stepanakert, which was built in 1967.

The work of sculptor Sargis Baghdasaryan Armenia is widely regarded as a symbol of the de facto independence of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh. It consists of tuff and shows an old Armenian man and a woman, representing the miners from Nagorno-Karabakh. The sculpture is depicted on the coat of arms of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh. Furthermore Tatik Papik is depicted on the back of the 5 - dram coin from 2004, the only previously published circulation coins set of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Tatik Papik in Eastern Armenia is also under the name " jew Tatik Papik " ( Տատիկ եւ Պապիկ, Tatik EW Papik ) and known as " Mamig jew Babig " ( Մամիկ եւ Պապիկ, Mamik ew Papik ) in Western Armenia.
