Weakest Link

The Weakest was a game show that aired on RTL Television from 2001 to 2002 and hosted by Sonja Zietlow flies. It was based on the British show, The Weakest Link with Anne Robinson.

Gameplay

Nine candidates are always one after another asked a question you have to answer them. The candidates receive for each correctly answered question points. Before they get asked the question, they can " block " to secure points. In the fall season of 2001, the word " block " with the word " bank " shall be replaced, which is also used in the British original. After each round, all candidates must write the name of their opinion, the worst collaborator on a plate. The one who is most often referred to, must leave the game. At the end of two candidates remain, fighting each other in the final of the accumulated points.

Original British and international offshoot

The name of the original mission, which was on view until February 2008 on BBC Two, and since then runs on BBC One 's The Weakest Link, and should be translated as the weakest link ( the chain). With this title, it is clarified that the individual participants each as links in a chain function that is only as strong as its weakest link, so the teams have to part with this very weakest link. This team - view is in contrast to modern notions of team spirit - where the weak helped - and to provide the necessary human tensions among colleagues.

The great success of the British original meant that the consignment has been adapted into the TV from more than 40 countries. Very often a presenter was, as in the British version, used, which was dressed in black and the candidate has treated rude. Despite the great international success, the ratings were only a few countries, such as Croatia, France, Mexico and Russia, good. Following the success of the British original no international offshoot was able to continue. In many countries, the show was canceled after only one year to maturity.

Tone

Each correctly answered question was answered by the presenter with a harsh " Korrrrrrrekt ". Before the weakest was chosen, again followed by pithy sayings like " We 'll see about me, who has our precious Studio weggeatmet air long enough " or " Whose head is less brain than in a can Chappi " by the presenter. After the design Selected firmly stood, followed by the obligatory saying " (name of candidate ), you are the weakest, you fly, bye bye ."

The verbal humiliation of candidates by Sonja Zietlow has been widely criticized and resulted in the fall of 2001 to a massive fall in the switching rates. Then she started, even though it does not match the gameplay to treat the candidates friendly. The audience, however, this does not improved, so the studio was converted to an audience. As well as this had no effect, the program was discontinued in March 2002.

Special events

The recorded output morning of 11 September 2001 was interrupted by a black screen to show live coverage of the radio station RTL Television about the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
