Wedza District

The surrounding area is the heartland of the tobacco cultivation and cattle farming in the country. 550,000 animals were counted prior to 2001. Nevertheless it belongs, like all agricultural areas of Zimbabwe to the poorest regions. Poverty is widespread.

Hwedza has primary and secondary schools, and hospitals, but virtually no manufacturing industry. From a traffic- favorable situation as the near Marondera, it may not benefit.
