Weem

Weem ( Scottish Gaelic: Uaimh ) is a village on the B846 near Aberfeldy in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The name Weem is derived from the Gaelic word Uamh ( cave ).

Close to the village is the Castle Menzies, the former Weem Castle, where Bonnie Prince Charlie spent two nights in 1746 on his way to the Battle of Culloden. As one of Scotland's best- preserved castles, Castle Menzies is the seat of the Clan Menzies. The castle is managed by a private Preservation Trust and is accessible to visitors in the summer.

The old parish church of Weem, is of medieval origin and is home to the tombs of the Menzies family from the 16th century.

There are two pubs in Weem, the Ailean Chraggan and Weem Hotel.
