Products

Composite cans / cardboard drums

After the Second World War, composite cans were developed as an alternative to metal cans. The name of the package is explained by the combination of different materials: there are 90 percent composite cans from recycled paper; Bottom and the closure are manufactured from plastic or metal. The can wall formed from several layers of material. An inner barrier layer of aluminum foil or specific barrier material from recycled cardboard is thereby combined with a laminated label as the outer layer. Barrier layers of wax or an aluminum lining protect the products contained against fat and moisture.

The WPG produces composite cans in round, oval and non-circular formats with different filling levels and a capacity of 50 milliliters to 5 liters.

Plastic packaging

The division Weidenhammer Plastic Packaging (WPP ), founded in 2005 manufactures plastic packaging in Zwenkau and Bradford. Here mainly arise cups, cans and cups with a volume from 100 milliliters and buckets 1 to 11.4 liters. The packaging is manufactured using in-mold labeling process. This method enables the manufacture of packaging and decoration in a single operation: The label is preferably made of the same plastic material as the container. Both parts blend during processing, additional adhesion promoters such as adhesives are not needed. By IML containers can be so precise and high-quality decorated. At the same time, there are advantages in view of the subsequent recycling of the packaging, since the label and the container need not be separately recovered.

Especially for sensitive products such as sterilized and pasteurized food packaging PermaSafe was developed. This type of plastic container is produced by injection molding and has a high stability and barrier properties, hygiene, and durability of photosensitive products guaranteed.
