The Weinheim ( mountain road ) station is a railway station with IC system maintenance on the Main-Neckar -Bahn between Frankfurt am Main and Heidelberg / Mannheim, Weinheim. Here also the Weschnitztalbahn to Fürth im Odenwald begins. Furthermore, there is a freight track after four home one last remaining section of the former railway line Weinheim -Worms.

As part of the economic stimulus programs in 2008/ 09 to 2011, the station building were energetically renovated and refurbished the house platform roof.

Public transport

The station is connected through the Upper Rhine Railway (OEG ) with the rest of the metropolitan region Rhein- Neckar. It operates from here to four, Mannheim and Heidelberg. The OEG stop at Weinheim station is called " Luis road ," whereas the " OEG Bahnhof Weinheim " is about 400 meters further south.

There is a bus connection to the city and regional lines and Ruftaxi traffic.

Tracks

The Weinheimer station has six platform tracks. The tracks 5 and 6 are for the Weschnitztalbahn, on the other four tracks of the freight and passenger of the Main- Neckar line is settled.

Freight traffic

In earlier times, the Weinheimer station had a large and powerful freight and yard. The largest customer was based in Weinheim Group Freudenberg, who transported their goods via its own connection by train. Today, no scheduled freight to Weinheim station takes place more. The freight station was demolished and built on the site of a shopping center. Besides the two main tracks of the Rhein- Neckar -Bahn can be found on the former goods station, two sidings and a siding. Also the electronic interlocking Southern Mountain Road is located on the premises.
