Wellington Mara

Wellington Timothy Mara ( born August 14, 1916 in New York City, New York, † October 25, 2005 in Rye, New York) was one of the most important and influential people in the history of American football professional league National Football League ( NFL), and co-owner of the New York Giants.

The Giants were founded in 1925 by Tim Mara, father of Wellington Mara. He started his career in 1937 as assistant to the then club president after him in 1930 at the age of 14 years, ownership has been given to the Giants. From 1965 until his death he was president of the NFL clubs. Mara had a big part in that, since the 1960s, the television revenue in the NFL will be distributed to the entire league and is thus achieved in this respect equal opportunities of the team. In 1997, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After his death, his eldest son John Mara became president of the Giants. Since 2010, the Giants honor him on the New York Giants Ring of Honor
