Wendefurth Power Station

F2

The pumped storage plant Wendefurth located near the eponymous district of Thale in the Bode Valley and is the only pumped storage power plant in Saxony- Anhalt.

The power plant Wendefurth is operated as peak load power plant of Vattenfall and not use electrical energy required from base load power plants to pump water from the dam Wendefurth two pipelines with a diameter of 3.4 m in a reservoir above the power station. This one has a working capacity of 523 MWh at a total reservoir capacity of 1.97 million m³.

In the power house of the power station two Francis pump turbines are built, develop in turbine mode at a flow rate of 39 m³ / s and a total drop of 126 m, a capacity of 40 MW. They are coupled directly to three-phase synchronous generator, which can be operated for the pump operation of an electric motor. In this mode, the rated power is 36 MW.

The power is supplied via the switchgear Hüttenrode on the 110- kV high-voltage level in the mains distribution providers HSN Magdeburg.
