Werner Balte

Werner Balt ( born February 17, 1948 in Bochum, † 17 March 2007) was a German football player.

Career

Werner Balt played from 1966 to 1977 for VfL Bochum, scoring 97 goals in 281 games, including 38 goals in 170 games in the Bundesliga. His greatest sporting achievement was reaching the DFB Cup final in 1968, but the VfL ​​1:4 lost against 1 FC Cologne. On June 20, 1971 Balt scored the fourth goal of the month in the play offs for promotion to the Bundesliga against VfL Tasmania Berlin. After goalkeeper Horst Grunenberg threw the ball to tee up in the air conveyed the Balt thus shared gaming device in the gate of Berlin.

Later he worked as a coach, among others in the youth department of the VfL ​​Bochum, where he discovered players like Martin Kree and Frank Heinemann.
