Werner Bickelhaupt

Werner F. Bickelhaupt ( born December 2, 1939 in Ober-Ramstadt ) is a former German football coach.

Career as a coach

In the 1970s, Bickelhaupt was briefly assistant coach of the Red -Weiß Oberhausen. From July 1971 to February 1972, he coached SpVgg Fürth. In 1972 he was coach of the Freiburger FC, but was dismissed after only five games. For the new 1973/74 season was Bickelhaupt in the service of VfR Aalen. Although the club until then in the first 12 games of the season was undefeated, the employment relationship was terminated again in October of the same year because of a serious dispute between Bickelhaupt and the parts of the team. In the season 1974/75 he coached the Spvgg Freudenstadt, with whom he won the 1975 WFV Cup. On March 25, 1977, he was employed by the Würzburg FV and saved the club from relegation; the FV finished the season in 13th place in the table. Nevertheless Bickelhaupt joined the Young Fellows Zurich. However, the club was able to get only 4 points from 22 games under his direction, from the remaining 10 games down the club took only one win and thus rose from a murmur. Bickelhaupt was succeeded by the coaching duo of Kurt Stettler and Rudi Naegeli.

As of March 1979, he was the coach of the national team of Thailand. However, this commitment lasted only about seven months, until Bickelhaupt was discharged after failing to qualify for the Asian Cup qualifiers. In 1980 he was briefly coach of VfB Gießen, before he was active in Alexandria from the middle of the year.

In 1981 he was imprisoned in his role as coach of the Egyptian first division side Al -Ittihad without notice for any reason for at least three weeks.

2003 was Bickelhaupt coach of Swaziland. After a defeat against Cape Verde he lost this job.

After his return to Aalen in 2004, Bickelhaupt turned to the elderly or infirm. He takes in the tennis team Men 65 of the TC Heidenheim.
