Werner Grossmann

Werner Grossmann ( born March 9, 1929 in Upper flatness, then Amtshauptmannschaft Pirna ) is a former German intelligence officer, Deputy Minister of State Security, and from 1986 to 1990 Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HV A), the foreign intelligence service of the German Democratic Republic.

Life

Hailing from a family of craftsmen Grossmann has been brought as a teenager into the Volkssturm. After a bricklayer, graduating from a preliminary study institution and several semesters studying at the Technical University of Dresden, where he was FDJ secretary, United man came in 1952 to the school of Foreign Affairs Intelligence Service ( APN), the precursor of the Main Intelligence Directorate in the Ministry for State Security ( HVA ).
