Werner Hoeger

Walter Karl Werner Hoeger ( Werner Hoeger; * December 15, 1953 in Mérida, Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan luger and emeritus professor of kinesiology at Boise State University.

At the age of 16 years moved Hoeger, whose mother and father are from Austria from Germany, in the United States. Nevertheless, he was 1970-1975 six times in a row Venezuelan around champion in gymnastics and also won 34 of 36 possible titles for the individual competitions. At Summer Olympics, however he was unable to attend because the Venezuelan gymnastics team did not qualify. After the 1998 Winter Olympics Hoeger began sledding. He was trained by the Austrian Günther Lemmerer, who already was World Cup champion in doubles even. At 48, he first participated at the Olympic Winter Games at the Games in 2002 in Salt Lake City. He finished the tournament as a 40, his son Chris took part in these games and also joined the competition in luge as from 31.
