Werner Lehfeldt

Werner Lehfeldt ( May 22nd, 1943 in Pearl Mountain ) is a German Slawist.

Lehfeldt attended after primary school first, the Goethe-High School in Pearl Mountain and after the escape from East Germany from 1960-1962, the Baltic High School in Timmendorfer beach, where he made his 1962 high school graduation. From 1962, he studied Slavic Studies at the Universities of Mainz, Hamburg, Sarajevo and Bochum in Bochum he received his doctorate in 1967 in Slavic Studies and History and was there in the same year research assistant. In 1973 he qualified as a professor in Bochum and was appointed in 1976 to the Chair of Slavic Studies in the Department of Linguistics, University of Konstanz. In 1980, he refused a professorship at the University of Hamburg, in 1991 a professorship at the University of Geneva, where he did a semester taught as a guest professor. Between 1979 and 1989 he also taught ten semesters at the University of Basel. In 1991 he accepted a professorship at the University of Göttingen, where he held from April 1992 until his retirement in September 30, 2011 the Department of Slavic Philology ( Linguistics ). He was elected a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts 1992, 1994 member of the Academy -profit Sciences Erfurt and 2011 as a member of the Brunswick Scientific Society. February 9, 1996 he has been a full member of Philology and History class of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen. From 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2012, he was chairman of this class and vice president of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences. Since 1983 Lehfeldt was co-editor of "Russian Linguistics " from 1993 to 2006 whose senior editor and chief editor.
