Werner Müller (musician)
Werner Müller ( born August 2, 1920 in Berlin, † December 28, 1998 in Cologne ) was a German writer, composer, conductor, arranger and orchestra leader.
Life
Actually Müller wanted to be " explorer ", alternatively even medical professionals. His father, however, made sure that he received a musical education. Piano and violin were the first instruments miller and with 10 years he performed as a soloist with a violin concerto by Mozart. 1936 Müller went to the military music school in Biickeburg. There he also learned trombone. During military service Müller came into a music corps, in which the violinist Helmut Zacharias served. In American captivity Werner Müller made enthusiastic acquaintance with the Swing.
1946 Müller learned with the orchestra Kurt Widmann in Berlin probably the " hottest " band Berlin know. Not quite 30 years old, took over Müller 1949, the then newly formed dance orchestra of the RIAS Berlin, whose recipe for success thanks to Werner Müller as the formula "swing with a lot of string" belonged. Among the instrumentalists of the RIAS Dance Orchestra included renowned musicians such as clarinetist Rolf Kühn, baritone saxophonist Helmut Brandt, pianist Fritz Schulz- Reichel and guitarist Arno Flor.
For the " much string" was in charge of the concert master of the RIAS Dance Orchestra Hans -Georg Arlt with 18 strings. Further compilation of the orchestra, including four trumpets, four trombones, five saxes and four rhythm instruments, gave the recordings a distinctive sound that still fascinates the listener.
In the 1950s and 1960s, every moviegoer knew Müller titled " Sports and Music" from the sports coverage in the newsreel. A worldwide success in the mid- 1950s, his arrangement of " Malagueña, " composed about 1928 by the Cuban Ernesto Lecuona, the vocal version with Caterina Valente. Proudly named Müller then his own motor yacht for this title. Müller helped as a producer many vocal soloists of the postwar years to stardom as Rita Paul, Mona Baptiste or Bully Buhlan. From miller spring the theme song of the ARD Sportschau Topsy, which was originally released as a B- side of the single showcase Germany comes.
After 18 years in Berlin, Müller moved to Cologne in 1967, where he took over the WDR Dance Orchestra and was also seen in many television shows. Over time, dozens of records created with the name " Werner Müller Orchestra ", of which there are but very few have made it into the CD - term. Because of the umlaut "ü " in its name Mueller called for record releases abroad there also " Ricardo Santos". Successful were his many tango recordings and instrumental titles like " Baia " by Ary Barroso or " Siboney " and " Malagueña " by Ernesto Lecuona as well as many other tracks.
