Wes Studi

Wes Studi ( born December 17, 1947 in NoFire Hollow, Oklahoma Wesley Study) is an American actor.

Life and achievements

The ancestors of Wes Studi were Cherokee; Studi grew up on an Indian reservation. In 1967 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served 18 months in the Vietnam War. He then studied at Tulsa Junior College.

Studi debuted in the TV movie The Trial of Standing Bear from the year 1988. In Western Dances with Wolves (1990 ) he played alongside Kevin Costner. In the film The Doors ( 1991) Wes Studi played the role of an Indian who appears Jim Morrison ( Val Kilmer ) in his visions. In 1992 he played the Magua in Michael Mann's cinematic realization of the novel The Last of the Mohicans. In the film, Geronimo - A Legend (1993 ), he assumed the role of Geronimo. For this role he received in 1994 - together with some other parties - the Western Heritage Award.

In the horror film The Glass Death ( 1996) Studi played one of the major roles. In the SF- horror film Octalus (1998), he was seen on the side of Treat Williams and Famke Janssen. In 2000 he was awarded the First Americans in the Arts Award. Since 2002, he starred in three television films based on novels by Tony Hillerman Navajo police officers Joe Leaphorn.

Studi married in 1974, Rebecca Graves, with whom he has two children. Later he married Maura Dhu, with whom he has a child.
