West Athens (regional unit)

The Regional District of West Athens (Greek Periferiaki Enotita Dytikou Tomea Athinon Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Δυτικού Τομέα Αθηνών ) is one of eight regional districts of the Greek region of Attica. It was formed on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 from some western suburban communities in the prefecture of Athens County Athens. Proportional to its 489 675 inhabitants, the area sends 13 MPs in the Attic Regional Council, but has no more political significance than local authority. It is divided today into the communities Agia Varvara, Agii Anargzri - Kamatero, Chaidari, Egaleo, Ilio, Peristeri and Petroupoli.
