Western Electric

Western Electric, Inc. ( WE) was an American electrical engineering company. The company's history goes back to a George Shawk 1856 in Cleveland, Ohio based electrical company back. 1872, the company moved to Chicago and chose the name " Western Electric Manufacturing Company."

The company hired primarily manufactures equipment for telecommunications equipment such as telephones. The RJ Connectors today still used in the area of network systems, which were then built by Western Electric in their telephones in large numbers, are referred to colloquially as " Western plug ".

Known internationally, the company has been through the Hawthorne experiment of Roethlisberger and Dickson, a number of studies that have been carried out 1924-1932 in the Hawthorne plant in Chicago.

The company was having in common with AT & T shareholders of Bell Laboratories.
