Westfalia Rhynern

The SV Westfalia Rhynern (full name: sports club Westfalia Rhynern eV ) is a sports club from the eponymous district of Hamm in Westphalia. The association has about 1,600 members in eleven departments. The SV Westfalia Rhynern became known through his football department. The first men's team plays since the rise in 2010 fünftklassig in the Oberliga Westfalen.

History

In 1935, a precursor of today's Association was founded with the gymnastics and sports club Rhynern, but existed only two years. On June 26, 1946 there was a new company under the present name. Since many of the founding members of the SV Westfalia were already a member of the gymnastics and sports club, the SV Westfalia was the founding year 1935.

The first football team in 1997 managed to climb into the then fifth rate Federation League Westphalia. Two years later, the team missed the rise only slightly in the Oberliga Westfalen. With two points behind champions SC Herford Westfalia was third. In 2002, the team was relegated after losing in the playoff against Borussia Emsdetten in the national league from Westphalia.

After chances of promotion, the association established in the fifth division. 2006 was the team's runner-up, before in 2010 succeeded as master of promotion to the NRW-Liga. After a year in the NRW-Liga Rhynern rose sporty again, but benefited from the withdrawal Germania Windeck and remained so in the 2011/12 season in the NRW-Liga. After an 11th place Westfalia qualified for the new Oberliga Westfalen.

Departments

In 2002, the club had 1597 members, making it one of the largest clubs in the city and offers next to the football or to other sports in the departments handball, volleyball, athletics, table tennis, badminton, aerobics / gymnastics and seniors gymnastics.
