Westin Hotels

Westin Hotels & Resorts is a hotel brand of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, which was founded in 1930 in the U.S. and today operates 120 hotels in 24 countries.

History

1930 met by chance two hotel competitors at breakfast in the same restaurant in Yakima, Washington. They came into the conversation, joined forces and founded Western Hotels, a hotel chain with 17 hotels. In 1954 the name change through the acquisition of a hotel in Canada by Western hotels Western International Hotels. 1969 offered the hotel the first 24 - hour service worldwide. 1980, the name Westin Hotels & Resorts was again changed for the fiftieth anniversary.

Germany

In Germany there are five hotels in the chain:

  • The Westin Leipzig in Leipzig
  • The Westin Grand Berlin in Berlin
  • The Westin Bellevue Dresden, Dresden
  • The Westin Grand Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, formerly the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel
  • The Westin Grand Munich in Munich, formerly Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel

Announced new openings in Germany:

  • The Westin Hamburg in Hamburg, uses 20 floors of the Elbe Philharmonic Hall and is scheduled to open in March 2017.

Worldwide

  • Westin Bonaventure Hotel, Los Angeles, USA
  • Westin Excelsior, Rome on the Via Veneto, Italy. The Villa La Cupola Suite $ 30,000 per night was listed worldwide in March 2012 by CNN among the ten most expensive suites.
